Time to break out the cozy sweaters and the Halloween decorations: fall is here!
Autumn is my favorite season. You get to wear comfortable yet stylish clothing, and summery brights make way for fall neutrals. I think that’s fair, since the falling leaves get their chance to have all the color!
With all the fun flavors and seasonal activities, I thought I’d play another fun game of “This or That,” with an autumnal theme! Leggo.
- Pumpkin Spice Latte or Salted Caramel Mocha? Salted Caramel Mocha!
- Give Out Candy or Trick or Treat? I think if I showed up to my neighbor’s house in a costume asking for candy, I’d get the police called on me. As an adult, I would say being the house that provides “full bars” is a source of pride.
- Apple Pie or Pumpkin Pie? Apple. A thousand percent.
- Baseball Hat or Fedora? Fedora hats should only be worn by Dean Winchester in that one episode of “Supernatural.” Meanwhile, we should all aspire to be Rachel Greene in “The One With the Football.“
- Crisp Mornings or Chilly Nights? Crisp mornings every single time! Sixty degree AM walks are direct serotonin to my soul.
- Apple Picking or Hayrides? Apple picking! My favorite! It’s one of the things I miss most about living in a cold weather environment like Vermont.
- Cozy Slippers or Cozy Scarves? I like cozy slippers more than scarves! Scarves can get to be too much without even trying. That said, getting that “Sherlock knot” in a scarf is a boost to my confidence.
- Pumpkin Patch or Corn Maze? Pumpkin patch! I cannot wait to carve my own pumpkins next year (I don’t know how many pumpkin patches we’ll find, in Florida, during a pandemic, so I think 2021 will be the year I buy my first pumpkin that I carve myself!).
- Thanksgiving or Halloween? Oof! This is a tough one. Halloween wins by a hair, only because there’s so much you can do on Halloween. You can dress up, you can watch scary movies, you can have a party, you can go to a haunted house, you can camp out in a cemetery (okay that one I HAVEN’T done yet). Thanksgiving you kind of wake up, put on a nice dress when really you should be putting on your cutest pair of sweatpants, and wait for the meal to start. My family watches “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles” every year, and we usually have the Macy’s Day Parade on in the background, but that’s all we have in terms of tradition! Halloween is way more fun!
- Leather Jacket or Jean Jacket? Leather, with the caveat that it’s actually “pleather!” The second it dips below seventy-four, my pleather jacket comes out until April.
- Pumpkin Spice or Apple Cider? Dang, pumpkin flavors are really taking an L in this wrap-up! Apple Cider. Drink it fresh, serve it on the side of cider donuts, or anything in between. Apple cider donuts with apple cider during apple picking season. I miss Vermont so much.
- Bubble Baths or Candles? Candles! I’m on such a candle kick lately! Light one or two, and curl up with a book or Netflix and some hot chocolate. Feeds your heart!
- Booties or Knee High Boots? Knee High Boots! They are much easier to tuck your pants into them. With booties it’s a 50/50 chance it comes out a bunched up mess on my ankles.
- Carve Pumpkins or Pumpkin Pie? Manual labor or eating? I know my choice.
- Candy Apples or Candy Corn? Candy corn. Candy corn. Candy corn. I think it is the seasonal treat I miss most throughout the other months of the year! I know it’s not exactly “liked” by “most people,” but it is an absolute favorite for me.
- Sweaters or Hoodies? Hoodies double as an invisibility cloak of warmth. I’m so cozy you can’t even see me!
- Scary Movie or Horror Book? I will be indulging in both this October! Do the “Goosebumps” books count as scary? I used to love those! That said I think I’ll go with scary movie. The last scary book I read was “The Amityville Horror,” and that was an audiobook so it might as well have been a radio broadcast -> tv show -> tv movie -> scary movie.
- Tea or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate every single time.
- Savory snacks or sweet treats? The sweet tooth really kicks in this time of year! I’m honestly not a savory snacks kind of girl to begin with. I’m all about the pastries!
- Sweaters or flannels? Flannels. I fantasize about a life in which I live in flannel for three months out of the year, every year.
Happy pumpkin everything and sweater weather daily season to us all! What are some of your fall favorites?
