Today Aaron and I celebrate our two year anniversary. A personal day from work it is!
Two years ago today, Aaron and I got married under a Vermont sunset and falling leaves. Now, two cats and a pandemic later, and things have never felt better!
Today, we took a day off of work to celebrate. If the pandemic had not been an issue, we might have booked a flight for a small getaway. Anxiety about travel and border issues (will they let in the Americans, even with a vaccine?) got in the way of that!
Then, this morning as we got ready, Aaron had an incredible idea: next year, third year, anniversary in Scotland. Consider it manifested! I thought the idea felt so spontaneous and romantic. I had thought of doing a trip to the Scottish Isles for his birthday next year. However, I am more than willing to push things back a few months for the sake of an even greater adventure!
Today, we decided to have a relaxing morning, then travel to the happiest place on Earth in time for lunch. Considering I spent the whole weekend away from a screen as the new season of “You” dropped, the timing couldn’t have been more perfect! The Powers that Be at Disney released their new line-hopping service today. As a result, the lines at Magic Kingdom were a mismatch of too long and average too long. We indulged in a few classics, like “Carousel of Progress” and “Peter Pan’s Flight.” As well, neither of us had taken the Riverboat in Liberty Square before today! A riverboat cruise around Tom Sawyer’s Island was both fun and somewhat calming.
This year is the 50th Anniversary of Disney World’s opening! As a result, the major parks, restaurants, and hotels have pulled out all the stops. The California Grille at the Contemporary Resort (right next to Magic Kingdom) is certainly no exception. Aaron and I indulged in a luxurious three course meal at sunset. Champagne toasts and fresh focaccia were only the beginning.
I casually mentioned that I would like to visit the Bahamas next year at New Years. Specifically, I wanted us to save our pennies and ring in 2023 with a trip to Atlantis! He agreed that we could consider it, on one condition: if we go to the undersea paradise of the Greek Gods, we have to look like Greek Gods.
A challenge to be in the best shape of my life at 28, in over a year from now? Challenge accepted!
Some thirteen hours later, my brain is fried after hours of walking and sun and delicious food. Tomorrow is just a dream away!
