Photoshop is on my resume under “Skills.” Let’s prove it!
New-Age skeptics may roll their eyes at the thought of a “vision board.” The idea of “manifesting” things you want in life may seem hokey, but it’s really just optimism and positive thinking! I think we CAN create our own realities… to a degree. You, unfortunately, can’t just say “I am a millionaire with no problems” and hope that one day you’ll wake up in a mansion to a beautiful view and a feeling of completion. That’s what being in a millionaire is all about, right? To get there, you have to believe in yourself… and then work hard. REALLY hard. There’s also the whole “generational wealth,” “50% of wealth is owned by 1% of the people,” “eat the rich” thing that we grow more and more conscious of every day, but that’s a whole other tangent.
Anyway, a vision board is a collage of pictures, images, and motivational concepts of one’s goals. It can serve as a source of inspiration and affirmation that your dreams are possible, and that they can be achieved. Again, making the board and actually putting in the work to get yourself there are TOTALLY different, but I’m down for any arts and crafts project, so, why not give it a try?
I’m an adult living in the 21st century, so I feel like (even with the lack of houseguests in a pandemic) if someone walked into my house and saw my vision board, they’d just get Charlie Day vibes. Rather than get a cardboard display and some magazines with a glue stick (and worse, all the glitter in Target), I decided to go to Pinterest and Photoshop. I used my 2021 resolutions as my guide!
If you look at my 2021 Resolutions post, you’ll see my various priorities for the year: sharpen my foreign language skills, take better care of my hair, finishing my 2020 reading list, and run a 30 minute 5k, among others! Through Pinterest, I managed to find an image that somewhat epitomized most of these goals. There are other goals on my vision board: clearer skin and healthier body, improve my coding skills, and God willing, book a trip with Aaron when we all get out of quarantine (this year? Please?).
Obviously, number one on my list was to redesign this blog. My pretty little foray into Photoshop is emblematic of that goal in and of itself. But enough talking, right? Let’s take a look!

Can you spot all the resolutions? The manifestations of a bigger idea? I must say, it took me about two days to make, and I’m proud of it. Similar collages dominate social media aesthetics, so this edited lil’ wonder makes me feel like I’ve joined the party. Better late than never!
I made this vision board my home screen on my phone. Now, anytime I want to browse Instagram for ninety million hours, I have this visual representation of all my goals for the year to stare back at me.. and get me to open my Kindle or Audible app. I put the finishing touches while listening to Audible, come to think of it! Looks like it’s working it’s magic already.
