February 2022 has ended! It did not… go well.
Today is March 1! As a result, one can conclude that February has, also, concluded. January 2022 went really well, as far as my resolutions go! Unfortunately, February feels like a bit of a dumpster fire. I’ve mentioned feeling burnout, distractions, and somehow, I’ve had a headache two Tuesdays in a row! No good! However, I’ve come to realize that a bad month doesn’t signify a bad year. I have ten months ahead of me, starting today, to make better choices. Certainly, the math says that 28 days out of 365 is less than ten percent! I still have the time to do things right.
However, if I don’t qualify and quantify my mistakes, I won’t learn from them! So, in this post, each goal will have a bit of reflection on how to improve this month!
February 2022 Resolutions
-
Wash dishes on
WednesdaysTuesdays and Saturdays.I missed these specific weekdays once or twice this month. However, I did manage to do the dishes at least twice each week! Not too much ugly buildup of dishes in and around the sink occurred, and that was my main goal with this resolution.
-
Watch 4 movies a month from “1001 Movies to See Before You Die.”
I only watched two movies this month. I will probably merge my February 2022 watches with March in a post later this month!
This month: Fridays are for movies! If I don’t watch a movie on a Friday, for whatever reason, fill it up on Monday! -
Take a self-care bath weekly.
I think I technically missed a week once this month, but I doubled back and had two baths in a week. Close enough! Trust me, the ritual is exactly what I need. It’s seriously been a highlight of this year.
-
Clean my bathroom once a month.
This one got done! I feel like I need to do more to keep my miscellaneous products from building up and getting scattered on my counter, though. I also feel oddly hyper aware of my “scents.” I think I need a perfume overhaul.
-
Wash my bedsheets every two weeks.
This one got done! However, after washing my sheets each weekend last month, not doing the same this month feels dirty. I have cursed myself with efficiency!
This month: Make sure to wash sheets each week. -
Tidy my bedroom/closet every three days.
I let my bedroom get kind of messy a few times! However, overall a mass improvement from last year’s chaos.
This month: I will ensure that my daily goals are kept to a minimum on the days I visit my internet cafe after work. That way, when I get home, I can go tidy my room and take my bath! In bed with a book, lights out by 8:30. THAT’S how I sleep at night! -
Start every morning (and end every workday) with 15 minutes of yoga.
Some days I had a measly morning yoga routine. I also skipped a few days. However, I felt guilty on the days I skipped my morning yoga. So, that is a step in the right direction! However, I think I only did evening yoga twice. I have an idea on how to fix it, though.
This month: Yoga Nidra counts as yoga. Meditation will be my key to a better year. I’ll elaborate further down in this post! -
Send everyone I love a birthday card.
I forgot one of my closest friend’s birthdays last week. Not great. However, I have a card ready for my sister’s birthday next week!
This month: Set up a Google alert four days before each loved one’s birthday. -
Call my grandparents/email my grandpa once a month.
I did not do this this month. This is one of the worst ones, because I have a bunch of different Google alerts set up for it. However, I have plans to see them soon in person!
This month: Call my grandma on next Friday. -
Actually learn ASL, sharpen my Spanish, and learn conversational French.
I watched a Spanish episode of one of my favorite shows! It’s fun to read the subtitles and hear the language. However, I didn’t absorb any new sign language or learn any French.
This month: Find a place to watch one of my favorite shows in Spanish. Or watch “The Office” with Spanish subtitles, bare minimum. As well, watch those ASL videos I’ve saved on Youtube. -
Fully learn Javascript (with a focus on standard, Typescript, and Angular), PHP, AWS, and Kubernetes.
I feel like I did something with PHP this month! I also looked into how to customize WordPress themes. However, I don’t think I worked on coding at all otherwise.
This month: Follow along with a tutorial to actually customize a WordPress theme. -
Get to my goal weight by December 1st.
Of all my February 2022 failures, this one is the true dumpster fire. I don’t know why or how, but I didn’t go on runs, I barely got on my bike, and I let multiple days go by without hitting 10K steps. I also completely dropped veganism. I’m really bummed about it. This is the resolution that matters most! Instead of losing weight, I gained weight. I made unhealthy choices, and it shows. However, hope is not lost. As I said earlier, I still have time. I have another ten months (okay, nine) to make this happen. I haven’t messed up enough that this goal is impossible, and I believe in myself enough to make it probable.
This Month: Meditate in the morning, an hour into my work day, after my workday, and before bed. Constantly thinking positively about this goal will help keep me present. As well, I’ve placed a calendar on my wall, and created a list of ten goals for the day, with regard to this resolution. If I accomplish 8 – 10 goals, I get a green smiley face! However, if I accomplish 6 – 7 goals, that’s a yellow neutral face. Any less, angry red frowny face! With this, I hope that I motivate myself to try to get all the green smiley face stickers! It worked in elementary school. As long as I’m watching “The Simpsons” and trying to read more, I might as well dive straight into the revertigo in a productive way!

Start, and complete my writing projects.
I’m still finishing up “Save the Cat!” and have yet to start “The Anatomy of Story.” Sounds familiar? It’s because that’s what I wrote last month. To make matters worse, I have discovered new books to put on this list of “books to read to make me a better writer!” That said, “Save the Cat!” has been invaluable to me. As well, I’ve nearly finished my first treatment. I’m so eager to start work on the next one! I’m proud of my writing progress this month, but I would like to put in more effort this month. Next month is April, which means that “Escapril” poetry will take up my focus next month! I’d like to be in a good creative place before I let my writing projects take a backseat.
This month: Finish “Save the Cat!” and first treatment. In addition, start the next treatment!
February 2022 has felt like my WORST foot forward so far. I know I fell back into old patterns of crushing a few resolutions, but failing the ones that matter most. It’s time to get my head in the game. But also, my heart in the song.
