December 2021 Resolutions – Happy New Year!

I set out in January 2021 to complete these resolutions by the end of the year. As the new year concludes with December 2021, how’d I do?

Today is January 1st, 2022! Day one of 365. In a previous 2021 resolutions post, I indicated that I wanted to keep the final check in post short. To clarify, I wanted to just indicate “yes” or “no” to whether or not I completed the resolutions. I’m sticking with this intention… but I’m adding notes to a few of them. Just a few!

The Technicalities

  • I didn’t sharpen my Spanish as much as I would have liked. However, my comprehension certainly has improved!
  • The phrasing of the “Read the books I didn’t read last year” allows me wiggle room. Because I read SOME of them, I accomplished this goal. If I had specified “Read all the books I didn’t read last year,” I’d have been quite out of luck!
  • While I made moisturizing with sunscreen a habit, I didn’t do this EVERY day. I missed a few days! As a result, this technically didn’t happen.
  • I did not become a “Master Listener” on Audible. However, I have a bone to pick with them. Somehow, I managed to get seventeen out of 18 badges. Cool, right? Wrong. The only badge left is “The Stack.” A user can earn “The Stack” by having at least fifty titles in their library. Well, I have fifty one. I attempted to contact support twice, I logged in and out of my account multiple times, and uninstalled/reinstalled the app on my phone multiple times as well. Nothing would “illuminate” the badge in my collection. So, even though I TECHNICALLY earned all the Audible badges, the app reflects otherwise. To be honest, I had this issue with another badge in their collection. It’s a big disappointment. I wish Audible would put more focus in IMPROVING THEIR APP.
  • It would be really cool to say I ran a 30 minute 5K, but alas, it did not happen. However, I’m proud that I ran my first 5K this year. I’ve talked about it enough to get that across, right? Anyway, I hope to accomplish this goal in 2022.
  • For both the resolutions of “Whiten my Teeth” and “Write More,” I didn’t provide specific quantities, qualities, nor regularities. As a result, I technically accomplished both! However, if you look at my previous resolutions posts, you’ll see that I didn’t whiten my teeth often and I didn’t do as much of the writing as I wanted. So, it’s only technically a win.

Final Thoughts in December 2021

I’m happy with the progress that I made this year on a lot of my goals. In 2022, I plan to focus hard on two or three goals, while keeping others in the background as stronger habits to form. With that, it’s off to make my 2022 vision board! Here’s some foreshadowing: I found a lot of fun stickers.
